Christmas Carol Service 2014

Woldingham School was joined by the choirs of St Francis Catholic Primary School in Caterham and Beechwood Sacred Heart School, Tunbridge Wells, for its annual carol service in London on Monday 8 December.  Held for the first time at Central Hall, Westminster, this magnificent venue lent itself perfectly to the service, led by the choir and orchestra. Starting with the traditional unaccompanied first verse of Once in Royal David’s City the mood was set for a very beautiful and reverent mix of carols, interspersed with readings. The singing and orchestral playing was outstanding and moving at times and the congregation of students, alumnae, parents and guests was able to participate and engage fully, having a full view of the service from wherever they were seated.

Our chosen charity this year was Kids Company and we were delighted to welcome Camila Batmanghelidjh to talk about her wonderful work with thousands of vulnerable inner-city children. Her clear and inspiring speech moved every single person and we are truly grateful for the generosity of all our guests to the retiring collection, which raised a fantastic £6,185.79.
